Introduction
Leading up to the second battle of Saratoga in 1777, the Continental Army struggled against the better disciplined, better trained, and better equipped British Army. However, the second battle of Saratoga was an American victory that showed just what the unconventional Continental Army could do: defeat the British. In fact, the battle itself is referred to as the “turning point” of the American Revolution; the victory convinced France, a world power, to support the American cause.
